Frederik graduated from Ghent University in 2002 and focused on the medical management of sport horses. He followed several specialized trainings focused on sports medicine (Cirale, ISELP, Proveto) and regularly participates in international congresses to keep ahead of the latest developments.
After graduating, Frederik also went to the United States on a regular basis. Here he became an apprentice of Dr. Tim Ober, the American national team veterinarian. Meanwhile, this mentor has become a good friend of Frederik.
Frederik quickly climbed to the top and was designated as permanent veterinarian of the Belgian young riders in 2011 and in 2014 he became the official team veterinarian of the Belgian jumping team. This way, Frederik accompanied our Belgian show jumping riders during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (2016) and Tokyo (2021).
In addition to his function as 'team veterinarian', Frederik is of course first and foremost a top-class sports veterinarian and has meanwhile established his name in the equestrian world.
Currently he is a permanent veterinarian at several large international stables.
