Jeroen Declercq graduated from the University of Ghent in 2003. After an internship in the renowned Equine hospital ‘Bosdreef’ he returned to the Department of Surgery and Anaesthesiology of Domestic Animals at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University, to complete a 4-year Residency Program in Large Animal Surgery.
In 2011, he became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). During his residency, he started the research of his PhD, which was presented in 2012 entitled: ‘Dorsal osteochondral fragments in the fetlock joint of Warmblood horses’.
Since 2013, he started his own horse practice with a focus on orthopaedics and sports medicine. In addition to his ambulatory services, Jeroen is already part of the 'Equitom team' as a senior surgeon and an experienced orthopedist since 2014.
In 2004, he also became the official team veterinarian of the Belgian Para-Equestrian team during World, European Championships and Paralympic Games.
Since 2014, he is also team veterinarian for the Belgian 4 in hand Driving Team.
