Dr. Ugo Carrozzo graduated as a veterinarian with honors in 1998 at the university of Bologna in Italy.
After his studies he completed an internship in France at the Desbrosse Equine Clinic. Based on his special interest in orthopedics and sports medicine, Ugo founded his own practice. He had always a focus on scientific based quality medicine and his main strength is to perform thorough orthopedic clinical examinations and find the original pathological source.
In 2008, he founded ‘Clinica San Biagio’, an equine hospital in Italy, near Bologna. Besides the general clinical services provided (surgery, orthopedics, internal medicine, etc.) he also invested in a standing MRI scan, making Clinica San Biagio the first equine hospital in Italy with a standing MRI.
Ugo became an official FEI vet in 2012 and one year later he became ISELP certified. Since then, he was asked to become an instructor on several ISELP courses and delivered lectures at orthopedic conferences as a guest speaker.
In 2018, he obtained the Diploma de Kinesiology, Physiotherapy and Veterinary Rehabilitation from the National Veterinary School of Alfort in France.
As a renowned sport veterinarian, he participated at 5 European Championships, 3 World Championships and 2 Olympic Games. Ugo was the official team veterinarian for Japan at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Since 2017, Ugo is also the official team veterinarian for the Italian jumping team.
Currently, he is also responsible for the orthopedics and sports medicine cases at Paul Schockemöhle stable in Germany.
We are very happy to have Ugo in our team. He is an amazing person and an exceptionally experienced and talented orthopedic veterinarian.
