Kaatje Ducheyne graduated in 2012 as a veterinarian with a specialization in horses from the University of Ghent. After an internship at Veterinary Center Someren, she returned to the faculty of veterinary medicine in Ghent where she started her training as a reproductive specialist. Kaatje became European Specialist in Equine Reproduction, DipECAR in 2018.
She obtained a PhD degree in 2019, studying the influence of the mare's age on her fertility. For 3 seasons she combined her research with clinical work at the KI (artificial insemination) and ET (embryo transplant) center Keros. She completed the last 2.5 years of her research at the University of Utrecht.
She then moved to England where she worked for 4.5 years as a reproductive specialist for the Sussex Equine Hospital. Here she gained a lot of practical experience, including in ovum pick-up. In March 2023 she also obtained the veterinary Chiropractor diploma.
Kaatje has written numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals about reproduction and fertility and is a much sought-after guest speaker at international conferences. Since October 2023, Kaatje has been working as a reproductive specialist within ECG and heads the reproduction and fertility division (ECG Reproduction & Fertility).
